Dr. Hamed Taherdoost

Biography: Hamed Taherdoost is an award-winning leader and R&D professional. He is the founder of Hamta Group, Vancouver, Canada and sessional faculty at University Canada West. With over 20 years of experience in both industry and academic sectors, he has established himself as an industry leader in the field of Management of Technology and Information System. Throughout his career, he has been highly involved in development of several important projects in different industries as a project manager, R&D manager, and team leader.
Apart from his experience in industry, he also has some achievements in the academic environment. He has been working with researchers from various disciplines and has been actively engaged in different research studies. His views on science and technology has been published in top-ranked scientific publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Emerald, IEEE, IGI Global, Inderscience, Taylor and Francis and he has published over 130 scientific articles in authentic peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings, eight book chapters as well as seven books in the field of technology and research methodology. His research achievements also include winning several best paper awards and outstanding reviewer awards. He was a lecturer in PNU and IAU Universities. Beside on lectureship positions, he was researcher at IAU for over 8 years, R&D Manager and Academic Program Manager of Research Club, Tablokar, MDTH and Hamta Academy, Malaysia, and is Advisory Board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK, Advisor of STRA, Scientific Board of NASS, Singapore, Mentor at Publons Academy, Futurpreneur Canada and Vancouver Island University.
Moreover, he is the editorial, reviewer & advisory board member of many scientific peer-reviewed journals, and has served as editor of book & proceedings for prestigious publishers. He has been a Technical Program Committee, Scientific Committee, and Organizing Committee of many international conferences & has organized and chaired numerous conferences and conference sessions respectively & has delivered speeches as chief guest & keynote speaker.
He is Senior Member of IEEE, IAEEEE, IASED, & IEDRC, Working group member of IFIP TC 11 - Information Security Management, Professional Member of IFERP and Member of CSIAC, ACT-IAC and many other professional bodies. He is Certified Graduate Technologist, PMI Risk Management Professional, CIS, CAPM, CEH, CISA, CISM, CHP, CCNA and Certified Cyber Security Technologists.
Currently, he is involved in several multidisciplinary research projects among which includes studying innovation in information technology & web development, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, people’s behavior and technology acceptance.
Speech Title: The role of information security awareness in online shopping trends
Speech Abstract: Information security is recognized as critically important to ensure prevention of unauthorized access to sensitive information in various systems. As dependency on online platforms increases, the crucial role of information security promotes indeed.
Contemporary to stay-at-home orders and lock-down regulations, hundreds of thousands of individuals have switched to online platforms for every item that they were previously accustomed to handle by physical presence. Dramatic shift in users' behavior has increased the likelihood of being exposed to cyber security issues and targeted by cyber-criminals. The tremendous transition in uders' behavior raises information security concerns as well.
The attention of business owners is attracted to information security principles to mitigate potential risks of online shopping aiming to create a smooth shopping journey for their customers more than before. On the other hand, users that register their basic personal and financial information in acquisition forms are faced with several security concerns that should be addressed too.
The role of information security is indispensable in determining the preference of users of different online applications.
Unauthorized access to personal information by hackers and cyber-criminals subsequently leading to fraud and stealing formulates the users’ perception toward online platforms negatively resulting in massive financial and credibility losses.
Empowering individuals and raising consciousness revolving potential risks and issues as well as raising awareness regarding security and privacy problems associated with online platforms could give confidence to the customer. Meeting safe online platforms objectives could be achieved through Information Security Awareness programs.
Prof. Shuo Zhao

Biography: Dr. Shuo Zhao is professor/PhD Superviser in Communication University of China (CUC) and guest professor/PhD Superviser in University of Malaya(UM) and Krirk University of Thailand. He received his two Ph.D in Shanghai International Studies University and Northwestern Polytechnical University. He did his Postdoctoral Research both in Fudan University, Shanghai of China and Universitat of Barcelona, Barcelona of Spain. He is majored in online education and corpus linguistic.
Professor Shuo Zhao ever presides over National Social Science Fund in China, China Postdoctoral Science Fund, Humanities and Social Science Fund of Chinese Ministry of Education, National Education Science Program, Social Science Fund of Shaanxi Province and Research Project on Major Theoretical and Practical Problems in Shaanxi Province, etc. He publishes 100 papers and articles approximately. He is awarded as International Humanity Scholar by American Common Ground Publishing and CEU of Spain in 2014. In addition he is awarded as Emerging Humanity Scholar by American Common Ground Publishing and Imperial College London in 2017. Recently he is awarded as Emerging Scholar by University of Pennsylvania in 2018.
Speech Title: Corpus-involved E-learning and Education in European Universities
Speech Abstract: A central tendency in these innovations is to base corpus more on the educational needs of students in European universities. Corpus-involved education and learning attempt to optimize students’ learning process, stimulation, creation and active learning environment. A logical step in placing students at the center of their education is involving them in the quality control, organization and development of curricula based on corpus learning. Opportunities for student participation in curriculum planning and organization are given, including advantages and possible disadvantages of corpus involvement teaching and learning. Implications for European university wishing to incorporate students in their corpus organization are discussed to improve students’ input.
